old anime news and some other shit.

Well, let’s get the less important news out of the way first. Or maybe more important considering your particular allegiances. MaxFactory is doing a second run of their luscious Mai figure. So any of you unlucky types who didn’t get it on it the first time, be sure to act quickly. Especially on HLJ, because they are neglected types over there.

Anyway, Aizu Project has come forward with their own Mai offering and… she’s… well… overt? I would say her “bendy over angle” is much more severe angle. Certainly, it will appeal to the people who enjoy… you know… that. Still, it’s on ok sculpt with a complete different style. It’s a 1/7 scale cold cast, so I don’t think the hair is as much of worry, but I am a worrier. So there you go. 16,800 yen (cold cast premium) this July.

Hit the jump for a picture of Aizu’s Mai-tama.

I could swear I’ve seen this figure off and on for a million years, but hey, it’s not been that long. MaxFactory’s Shiranui Mai is finally up for preorder at most spots. And boy howdy is she making good use of that MaxFac quality. The pose and facial expression really let you connect with the playful nature of this figure. Well, unless you get hung up on the extremely womanly features throughout the middle of the body. It’s really a gorgeous sculpt and the only issue I take is that the hair tie is just the slightest bit distracting. Otherwise, wonderful. She’s 1/6 scale and stands 300mm tall. Since I know you are all SNK fans (or are after seeing this) I will expect some good reviews from around the webbarnets. I’m looking at you, super rats. She’ll hit you for 7,800 yen this August.

Speaking of his ratness, check out his Saika review. Very artful. Classy stuff. Hit the jump for a far-too-few four pictures of Mai in all her glory. Doin’ MaxFactory proud. (Again, not a whole ton of clothes on her. Mind your manners at work, folks.)
