If you’re like me, you’re probably pretty sure you’ve seen Japan make just about anything and everything into a full blown anime, if not just an anime character for commercials. I have to admit, this one is a first for me. Ichigo Ichie, a popular line of stationary products — that is to say notebooks and pencils and crap — is getting itself an anime. Admittedly, it’s nothing on the scale of Anpan Man, but the series is going to consist of thirteen 5-minute shorts. And that is a ton when you consider some of the amazing manga that never get shows. Hell, a lot of the manga I like don’t even show up in English artist profiles. Maybe I ought to stop dreaming. One day Carat! and Aruite Ippo!! will get made into anime one day… or maybe they don’t need to. Maybe it’s fine how it is. The anime would just ruin it anyway. And then other people would come encroaching on my shit. Just look what’s happened to my precious Ikkitousen. The anime sucked and the English version is ruined. SAD!
