1000th Post Spectacular: ikimashou Contest Time
by Randall Fitzgerald on Jun.28, 2007, under anime, figures, japan, manga, other
Today is a very special thing for ikimashou. And for me. Today, this post, marks the 1000th post on ikimashou.net. I got to thinking… how should we celebrate? And then it hit me! A contest! So I was thinking up prizes and I put them together… and they all kicked ass… so I though HEY! Let’s pull the stops out on this motherfucker. So what did I come up with? Naturally, THREE CONTESTS! I figure ikimashou is pretty much about anime, manga, and figures, right? So, that’s right kiddies. Three games to play, three chances to win. So let’s cut the shit. You want to know what you can win, right? Make sure you READ THE RULES!
Anime Contest
The Game: Intensive Training
The Prize: Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Perfect Collection and Cowboy Bebop The Movie R1 DVDs
The Deal: It’s a simple game. Shinji pussed out, so you need to make up for his whining. You take a picture of your best time on Intensive Training. A picture of your monitor and a screenshot, and something with “ikimashou Contest” written on it. I won’t have no photoshops in my contest. Best time wins.
Manga Contest
The Game: Biggest Bookworm
The Prize: ROBOT6 and Volume 1 of SumomomoMomomo (Both in Japanese)
The Deal: I want a picture of your manga and artbook collection. Impress me, you otaku fuckers. I want to see everything you’ve got. Make sure one of the pictures has a something with “ikimashou Contest” on it clearly visible. Biggest collection wins, and the winner walks away with some sexy books to add to the collection. Do not resize your pictures. JPG, PNG, and GIF filetypes accepted.
Figure Contest
The Game: Pity Party
The Prize: Space Girl Nagato Yuki Resin Prepaint
The Deal: I want your stories. Not just any stories. I want to know what horrible thing has happened to you that’s otaku related. Did your mom walk in on your jerking to loli porn? Did your tits fall out an Animazement 2003? Tell me why you need the lovely Nagato Yuki to come provide you some comfort. Try not to go over 1000 words.
The Rules
You have one week! So at 11:59:59 PM US Pacific Time on July 5th, entries are cut off. You have until then to get your best times, stories, and pictures together. I need you guys to send all the required stuff to contest@ikimashou.net along with your full name and address where you want the prize sent. Make sure you include “ikimashou (Anime,Manga,Figure) Contest” in the subject line. You can enter each contest once. One e-mail per contest entry. So one for anime, one for manga, etc. This contest is open to ALL COUNTRIES. If I find out anything shifty went on, or if you try to enter a contest more than once, you’re banned. Oh, and a quick note, all this stuff is in perfect condition, but it is from my personal collection. The NGE box is a little scuffed. That’s it though.
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. YOU CAN ONLY WIN ONE CONTEST. If someone wins multiple contests, I will send out e-mails dealing with that at that time. If you’d like, you can include the rank of your interest in the prizes for me. Either way, no big deal.
If I forgot something, or you need more info, ask in the comments and all will be revealed. And be sure to tell your friends. The more competition, the more fun, right? Don’t hesitate to ask about anything. Best of luck to everyone!

Humans are so interesting.
June 28th, 2007 on 4:34 pm
Well congratulations on the 1000th post. It’s quite a milestone to reach.
June 28th, 2007 on 4:35 pm
Thanks. :’(
It feels like it’s been so long. Like… so much of my life… wasted. Haha. AND I WILL HAVE 1000 MORE SOON!
June 28th, 2007 on 5:21 pm
Grats on the 1000 posts! It really is quite an accomplishment. As for your contest ideas… they are very unique. =)
June 28th, 2007 on 8:47 pm
So ‘Intensive Training’ requires a print screen and a picture taken of the monitor withe the score? I’m on it. Prepare your munnies to ship that to Singapore. All your EVA is belong to us.
June 28th, 2007 on 10:01 pm
haha, DO YOUR BEST! *thumbs up*
And hey, if no one else enters, you don’t even have to try that hard.
Remember not to send it in until near the end of the drawing there, or else you’ve spent your entry. :D
June 28th, 2007 on 10:15 pm
Congrats on the 1,000th post :)
A question about the “something with ‘ikimashou Contest’ written on it”… it has to be part of the screenshot? When you say no photoshop that means we can’t take the sceenshot then photoshop ikimashou Contest in, corret?
June 28th, 2007 on 10:22 pm
Ok, lemme explain. You need both a screenshot AND a picture, like with a digital camera. Holding up a piece of paper with ikimashou Contest written on it. Doesn’t have to be paper. It can be any camera, too. Like a phone camera. So long as I can see your time and the writing in the picture. :D
It’s to help prevent cheating, in so much as that will work. haha.
June 28th, 2007 on 10:46 pm
Ah I see, thanks…err so far my best time is around 35 secs >.
June 28th, 2007 on 10:47 pm
Oops…I think the less-than sign just cut off my comment.
June 29th, 2007 on 12:09 am
Yeah, that’s been happening a lot lately. Not sure what causes it. DO YOUR BEST! :D
Haha, now other people know what they need to beat though. I’d keep my time a secret. BLINDSIDE THE COMPETITION!
June 29th, 2007 on 12:36 am
Haha… actually the cut-off part of my comment was something along the lines of “crap I didn’t take a pic/screenshot because that was before this announcement!!!11″
If you enter I doubt anyone else is going to win thought XD
June 29th, 2007 on 12:40 am
Haha, lucky for them it’s my content. I was told not to inform #shrinemaidens of that particular contest. :D
Still, I’d love for my danmaku brothers in arms to take up the good fight!
June 29th, 2007 on 12:53 am
Hmm by the way, about the less than sign thing, seems like wordpress sees < as opening up an html tag, but then never closing it, I supposed people could just escape your html or use the ampersand lt semicolon (& lt ;). Or maybe use the pre tag. More info here and here. Hope that helped :P
June 29th, 2007 on 1:00 am
Hmm…
They all work for me.
That’s really odd. >.>
June 29th, 2007 on 7:13 am
Yeah, nice contest but I think I’ll pass as I’m too lazy to organize my manga/novel/magazine/artbook collection in neat tower-rows on my floor from the desks and bookshelves, or if you accept them as-is, title-side facing camera on desk/shelves? or if no title side, magazine/doujin whatever sleek or flat format reading one might have, then a list next to it added to picture so that one wouldn’t stuff some other volumes/sets in between for bluffing.
And yeah, I consider my reading collection to be small with collection spanning somewhere between 100 and 150 volumes.
And as a side-note, I have also experienced those omitted rest of comments when implementing > and / in my comments. After few times I have just avoided using those symbols near : and other symbols + together.
June 29th, 2007 on 8:20 am
Hm I should take a photo of my giant manga bookshelf =P
*wants that sumomomo volume even though I have it digitally XD*
June 29th, 2007 on 9:27 am
Haha are digital manga collection allow? j/k
June 29th, 2007 on 12:15 pm
Chronos:
Things don’t need to be arranged properly, but I can only count manga titles that I can recognize as manga. I mean, otherwise, people with a bunch of small trade paperbacks could pad their numbers pretty easily. AND NO ONE WANTS THAT. Trade paperbacks ARE NOT OTAKU! Mupltiple pictures are FINE so long as I can see the manga in them. :D
Hinano:
You totally should :D. Any digital version just can’t add up. I was actually a little hesitant to give it up, but FOR SAKE OF THE READERS!!! I figured I must for great justice. I should have just bought two copies in case I ever had a thousandth post contest…
Gumugum:
If I allowed digital collections, it’d be no competition. BECAUSE I AM THE GREATEST!! BWAHAHA! … Of course, I can’t enter my own contest… but still.
June 29th, 2007 on 1:12 pm
YEA, RANDALL!! The powers of posting and otakudom are strong in this one! Hah….No video game contest though ::sniff::. Well, the anime one does want you to play a game, but that game looks like it could slowly drive me into madness. Spiraling into the craziness of my…uh, you know, crazy. :)
June 29th, 2007 on 3:47 pm
Gumugum is correct about using the less-than sign. For non-registered users, Wordpress sees it as an attempt to open a disallowed HTML tag, and will cut off the rest of your comments instead of directly converting it to a less-than sign (HIGHLY annoying).
The reason that Randall is able to use the less-than sign without problem is because he has permission, as an admin, to use pretty much whatever tag or ascii entity he wants. I think it might be defined in the kser.php file or something like that, but I’m not completely sure.
It would be so awesome to win a contest as the only entry haha, even if it was the pity contest and you had to endure Randall snickering about how you are the most pathetic reader ever =/.

Just give us all admin permission, problem solved! :)

Congratulations on writing a whole lot of NOTHING. I kid, I kid. I’ll take your thousand+ posts and raise you my 63 posts over a year and a half. I guess you leave me no choice but to spin you a yarn. What with you dangling a Yuki figure within reach of my harpy claws.
July 3rd, 2007 on 4:32 am
What’s to stop me from going to my local manga rental store, taking photos and claiming that I own the place? =P
July 3rd, 2007 on 9:11 am
Ashley:
I’m sorry for posting so much nothing. Please set me right my loosing by of my Yuki figure. :’(
Lupus:
I would imagine that posting a comment like that makes any entry you make really suspicious. Also, people tend not to have that much manga, arranged alphabetically, on very nice shelves in a room that looks like it’s part of a store. That and the fact that being a dick just to win some stuff really ruins the spirit. THE SPIRIT LUPUS!
Also, I am still trying to find a solution to the >< thing.
July 4th, 2007 on 4:35 pm
By the way…does the anime winner get both Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop, or is the a choice between the two?
July 4th, 2007 on 4:36 pm
They get both.
July 4th, 2007 on 4:51 pm
Just commenting so anyone subscribed to this comment section sees the edit:
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. YOU CAN ONLY WIN ONE CONTEST. If someone wins multiple contests, I will send out e-mails dealing with that at that time. If you’d like, you can include the rank of your interest in the prizes for me. Either way, no big deal.
I forgot to do this comment the other day when I added it. Haha. BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE!
July 4th, 2007 on 5:12 pm
Okay I wrote you a damned NOVEL. My plan is that you’ll break about halfway through and I’ll just win by default-HA!
July 4th, 2007 on 5:24 pm
DO YOUR WORST, ASHERINO! I’m sure you have something horrifying for me, knowing the way you are.
July 6th, 2007 on 2:21 am
ah fack…i missed the contest.
July 6th, 2007 on 2:24 am
Haha, if you’ve got your entry ready, I’ll take it if you get it to me in the next ten minutes. ONLY if you have it prepared already. I’ll check time stamps.
