Since ANN were being dicks about who bought the ads for Haruhi, I decided that the fuckers ought to have one done in on them and I told pKjd to tell me who licensed it… well, he figured it out through a little trick of shitty programming for their shitty counter. If you carry yourselves on over to this link, then you will see an error where the counter should be. The counter gives the username for the account ownder via the virtual directory there, and the username is Kado USA. So, I will call it official and say fuck it.

Honestly, I sort of guessed it wasn’t the normal companies because there’s japanese on the damn page. No one in America does that. So there you go. No more waiting two days to find out who has Haruhi for the states. If this site is any indication, they may just try to do right by the show here. Thanks, pK. Credit goes to him, I think, for this find.

UPDATE: Kado literally JUST fixed the counter. Oh man. Smells like they want a secret kept. For proof of the old bug, check out moetron. Exciting? YES! Just for the record, it had been no more than about 5 minutes since we posted this stuff that they got it fixed. Someone is watching.

You don’t know they’ve licensed it, only that they’re publicizing it, IN TANDEM with the Japanese property. Don’t jump to conclusions.

Damn, I posted the story twice by accident. But ah who cares! The series is licensed and that’s all that matters :D

I’ll jump to all the conclusions I want, damnit! And then, when I’m wrong, I’ll just act like it never happened. It works in politics. :D

Twice is good. It’s one of those things that you can’t get enough of…

Of course, in a few hours, etc, it will be all over the place… maybe. Either way.

cortana: You’re right, but have you also read DarkMirage’s theory. It makes perfect sense for it to be Kadokawan USA. Don’t forget about what else is going on in Haruhi.tv. The two incidents cannot be a coincidence.

HOLY SHIT, they just fixed their counter on top.

December 20th, 2006

Haha, holy damn, that was fast. You posted your comment while I was updating the post. Haha. WOO! TOO LATE KADOKAWA!!! *high fives pK*

Now I’m 110% certain it’s them. Thank god one of us took a screen of that bug.

I know, I was going to, but then you had, so I was like Ahh fuck it. Especially since my Photoshop CS3 is being all lame.

EVIDENCE!

December 20th, 2006

I tried to check my stats to get further evidence, but my statcounter already ran over 100 clicks, so I lost it if it was on my site and I won’t have parsed logs until tomorrow. I am going to dig through the raw logs and see what I can find.

December 20th, 2006

Alright great! The more evidence the better.

Also, about “Kadokawa USA.” Seems like the only title they have the licensing rights to, prior to this so-called announcement, is “Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid.” But it’s FUNimation who distributes the R1 DVDs. So there’s still that to worry about as well.

December 20th, 2006

Actually, on TSR, they say that Kadokawa is licensed it, ADV did the production and the “Package art” was done by FUNimation. That was some info I saw from in IRC. So, it’s a weird thing altogether with FMP: TSR

December 20th, 2006

Yeah all the credits can be found at the bottom of the official FMP:TSR English site.

Licensor: Kadokawa USA
Distribution: FUNimation
English dub and subtitles: ADV

Now to find out which company will produce the Haruhi dub. That’s the next question.

December 20th, 2006

My money is on ADV for the dub. They have too many assholes on staff to overlook.

December 20th, 2006

Nice!

That Kadokawa USA is the licensor isn’t a surprise. To me the question always was if Kadokawa would use Funi or ADV for localization.

December 21st, 2006

I wouldnt be surprised if it’s the same set up as FMP:TSR. Using ADV for dubbing may have been a fluke with that however, since the first two FMP series to come here were ADV there would definitaly be fan issues if they had dubbed it with different VA’s.

Either way it keeps Kadokawa US nice and happy having someone else dealing with the dubbing and all. Talk about a nice way to cut costs, Subsidize!

Anyways, just agreeing with pretty much whats been posted here. Guess we’ll know for sure in 2 days eh?
