New Gainax Anime Announced, Has Stupid Name
by Randall Fitzgerald on Jul.11, 2006, under anime, japan
Gainax formally announced it’s new Sci-Fi/Action anime today. The show will be called Maiking Break-Through Gurren-Lagann, a title which seems to make absolutely no sense. Maybe if I spoke French or something? Someone let me know what’s going on with that title. Anyway, they’re making the show in conjunction with Aniplex (ROD -the TV-) and Konami (Everything else in the world…) and it’s set to air next Spring sometime.
Game Watch was at the press conference and lets us know that it’ll be 26 episodes long, Konami will be making a video game, and will likely have several animated sequels. It better be good, damnit. I don’t want another Evangelion crap storm. Let’s do a good job on this, shall we?!

I can’t make sense of the title either! That really seems to be garbled, even for Japanese anime. And yes, let’s hope that it’s better than Evangelion….

The pic makes me think of Abenobashi’s space episode…

Yea, the title does make very little sense. Maybe it’s one of those titles which have their meaning explained to you during the anime or it makes sense only after you have seen it. Well whatever, it’s still interesting even with the mangled title.

I guessm aybe we shouldn’t focus on the name… but still, it’s just weird. What does it mean?!
Am I the only one getting a little bit of Eureka 7 vibe? But then, the early parts of Eureka 7 gave me a super strong NGE vibe. Maybe everything will ripoff everything else!
Still, we shouldn’t pass judgement. We should do the good thing and wait to find out. Haha.
