old anime news and some other shit.

Oh man, nothing perks me up in the morning like doing the weekend rollup… that and hot erodoujin. Which I will have a news item about, strangely enough. Ok, it isn’t strange. Here I go rambling again. Also, it looks like I didn’t get that much higher paying job/client thing. Bummer. ON WITH THE ROLLING!

Anime/Manga

  • (This is a games bit, but shut up, it’s the only one) JAL is going to be offering up some free in-flight Nintendo DS gaming action. The game selection is sort of crap, and there’s no multiplayer, but all-in-all, it seems like a sweet deal… oh right, until you realize that you have to fly first class or executive to get it. But if you do, it covers most pan-Pacific flights.
  • According to a press release, FUNimation’s anime channel is going to be added to Verizon’s FiOS TV service later this summer. Hurray?
  • And while we’re waiting for that, let’s check out the new Gundam[ASX], Mobile Suit Stargazer C.E. 73 Divided By 2 Or Something. The trailer is about two minutes. Or so I hear… I hate Gundam.
  • FUNimation picked up the action… assassin… show… thing… Black Cat, and they told the whole internet. Well, we never have to worry about Pani Poni Dash! getting licensed anyway. No one could do that show proper.
  • AnimEigo had to push Kimagure Orange Road into moratorium, despite their trying to renew the license on the show. I guess that lets you know how the creators felt about the handling of the transition to English.
  • TOKYOPOP sent out a release stating that they are planning to expand into Australia and New Zealand, such that they can peddle their over-Americanized crap to a nation bourne of criminals. Verily.
  • The JUST opened Red Garden site is pulsing with a wet, hot trailer for the upcoming show. Way to get down to business, guys.
  • That Strike Witches page is now opened… among others.
  • Others being: Sumomomomomomo’s site being pre-opened. That’s good titling.
  • Code Geass ~ Hangyaku no Lelouch also saw a site pre-launching.
  • Binbo Shimai Monogatari got the site opened like a can of beans for the namesake… ah fuck it.
  • Oh, and Innocent Venus decided to pull back the robes and show us the full site.
  • Speaking of pulling back the robes, Akiba Angels is giving away some erodoujin… and some other stuff… but no one wants that crap. If you click a link that includes the word erodoujin and get fired, I refuse to be held responsible. I entered to win Comic AG 28-31, so don’t enter for that. It’ll fuck everything up.
  • Gainax announced that they’ll be doing movies for both Top wo Nerae! and Top wo Nerae! 2.
  • Kids’ WB will be airing Spider Riders. Apologies on behalf of America to anyone who liked the show.
  • If you were waiting for this one, then be happy. The official site for Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo has been opened for public viewing. Well, the official MediaWorks site, anyway. That is a creepy ass image.

Figures

  • Organic Hobby announced this… I guess it’s cute? Segawa Onpu figure from Ojamajo Doremi. She is due out in July sometime, stands about 130mm tall and will run you 3,654 yen.
  • Tecmo announced this super hawt Super Blackjack Rio 1/6 scale PVC for late September. Look at the way those boobs mash together. That is artistry. And artistry will only cost you 7,980 yen.
  • Toy Planning announced an original character casting named Mutsuki, who is slated for August. She has adhesive medical strips over her nipples for some reason. Let me say now, I don’t like the size of the spacing around the shirt-removal seams. I wonder if the adhesive medical strips are removable. She’ll be 6,090 yen when she comes out.
  • You always want to sees a well-done Range Murata figure, but Alter decided to go ahead and do Alvis from Last Exile, which makes me sad. She looks nice though. She’ll be a scant 3,800 yen when she is released, this October. On a side note, I’d like to see the uber-jizzing Pigeon from Suzume Robo from the ROBOT series. It’s not Murata, but still.
  • And while Alter was at it, they decided to go ahead and throw in this… well-modeled KOS-MOS figure from Xenosaga. One of the best I’ve seen thus far. Bravo. She’s also due out in October and she’ll cost you 4,800 yen.

Hey guys, I am hungry and it’s lunch time, so I am going to do the Now On Sale figures as individual posts later, if I have time. YOU UNDERSTAND RIGHT?!?!??! IT’S FOR THE BEST! Some other figures got announced this weekend, but without pictures, they’re sort of useless. Ah well! I am going to get me some snack attack. I’ll peep you cool cats later.

P.S. I watched Haruhi 10 last night (late, I know) and all you people who keep hating on the series can just got right to hell. The show is awesome and has been in every episode that has come out so far, and KyoAni is doing an awesome job and the show is superb. If you don’t believe me, just watch Ai Yori Aoshi for about 10 minutes.

Oh, and Nuke, I didn’t forget your link, I am going to do it as a full post later.

Ai Yori Yoshi was good. You suck for not liking it.

Haha, I didn’t say I didn’t like it, I just see it as a cashcrop anime that is super formulaic. But hey, I enjoy that sort of thing myself. Still, compared to Haruhi-sama, that show is pure stink.

Mutsuki figure:

Anime girls must injure their nipples a lot. I see a lot of them with band-aids applied. ;-P

Haruhi:

Another follower has embranced the light and salvation and joined the flock! Worship at the temple of Suzumiya! Hallelujah! I say Hallelujah!!!

Alter KOS-MOS:

Oh man! Quite a few collectors got owned by Alter when they paid through the nose for the initial release of that particular KOS-MOS figure! Alter isn’t going to make a lot of friends but you can’t blame them for re-releasing a popular figure. But still… OUCH!

Guess it pays (or doesn’t pay in this case ;) to be patient.

Gundam:

When Bandai made it policy to fragment the Gundam universe into a billion alternate futures and histories, they really created a poor quality mess. I always hold out a little hope that when a new Gundam series comes out, it’ll swing back to the original continuity or at least try to get back to what propelled Gundam to success in the first place. Guess I should just give up…

KOS-MOS:
Well, it worked for Musushiya with the mail-order only Kano Unchou (or whatever her stupid name is) that they did mail-order only, and are screwing people by doing a second run mass-release. LAWL! :D

It really makes you question whether anything that’s labelled “limited edition” is really limited. You could almost accuse them of making an initial cash grab, banking on collectors’ panic and all that. On the other hand, they’re just obeying the law of supply and demand. Hmmmm…

When Kotobukiya released the 1/6th Ninja Gaiden version of Ayane, I picked it up when it was about $60 or so. Then she was re-released for $40. But at least I didn’t get hurt as bad as the people who paid up to $150 for that very same KOS-MOS figure that’s being re-released at 4,800¥ or so…

I’m gonna hope for a Megahouse ‘Koyori’ re-release. :-P
