Gonzo is celebrating their 15th year in existence with a new anime called Mardock Scramble. Very little is known about the series with regards to when we will be seeing it, or how we will be seeing it, or how long we will be able to see it for, but I doubt that will stop many people from getting excited about it. The venerable Range Murata will be handling character design on the show. You might remember his work from, most notably for me anyway, Last Exile. And if not, then maybe you’ve seen Blue Submarine No. 6. Or those cute Pinky:st character he designed, but will never come out because there is no god. Either way, he will be bringing another set of his unique character sets to the screen in the upcoming show, but right now we don’t know if it’s a TV anime or and OVA, or when it will be out. Keep an eye on the official site for news.
Quite the coincidence that I just finished watching Last Exile when another anime production with Range Murata’s participation shows up. :-)
I’m thinking of getting a few of the PSE Collection trading figures but he’s got that new Robot line coming out that looks pretty nice. I might save up for that instead of grabbing the older lines.
I still need to watch Last Exile. I really enjoyed the first few episodes, and then I forgot to download the rest. But his character designs are awesome. I like them a lot.
I want those Range Pinky figures and I still want them to make those resin kits into PVCs. Make them do it Nuke! You want them too! I know it!
[...] I'm sure you'll all remember the Mardock Scramble anime, the Gonzo 15th anniversary celebration anime with character designs by Jesus himself. I mean, by Range Murata. Well, the official site for the upcoming series has posted up an extremely short, extremely unsatisfying teaser trailer. I mean, you should give it a watch anyway, but if I wasn't such a calm guy I might go break some stuff after seeing the whole trailer and getting to see any of the characters. Oh well, those sorts of things aren't going to get me pumped, but I guess it's to be expect when you have Murata on character design. People love the PSE and Last Exile stuff, so that will be enough to draw them into Mardock. Damnit, Gonzo, give us a trailer with people and stuff! [...]
