Otaku UniversityHey, otaku! Class is now in sess… ok, no, I’m not going to do that. Word is out that Otaku University, a conference for “those who are serious about obtaining a career in the entertainment industry.” The conference will include workshops on things you should have learned before now and, the real reason for going, a chance to push yourself on the company of your choosing. Anyway, this whole thing basically boils down to a big recruitment fair for companies and universities. So if you’re in or around Phoenix, or desperatly want to join a big job lottery, then Otaku University is the place for you!

Also, as an aside, let me just say that the mascot girl on the page there, well… she’s not inspiring a whole lot of confidence in this whole “university” thing. But then if questionable talent is what they want, JACKPOT! Oh yeah, and there’s a press release after the jump with more details.

Phoenix, Arizona – We are pleased to announce the grand opening of a new kind of event, ‘Otaku University’. Don’t be fooled by the title, Otaku University is not an anime convention. It is a school-style conference. Otaku University’s main goal is to help lead you, the hardworking fan, toward your dream job in the entertainment industry. The Directors of Otaku University are currently in the process of constructing the event. Plans include studio arts classes for everything from 3D computer animation to costuming and public performing, as well as Asian and culinary studies. Otaku University will also be covering career-boosting classes such as: portfolio reviews, writing better resumes, and networking. Demonstrations will be held for the classes listed above and more.

Otaku University will be held during the fall of 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona. Don’ t miss your chance to network with teachers, schools and companies, as well as learn skills that are vital in the entertainment industry.
