Mai-HiME ThumbAmiAmi has put up some nice shots of the upcoming Mai-HiME trading figures 2.5. The figures are due out in the middle of April, and will run you 7,560 yen for the complete box. They are also calling this set a “limited edition” but I tend to think that they’re referring to the fact that it’s a repaint and want to boost the hype with HiME fans, and collectors.

Got a few pictures after the jump.

I just started watching Mai-HiME a day or two ago.

That’s a nice looking set. 7,560 yen? Ouch! If I picked that up, that’d be the most expensive I’ve ever purchased. Actually, that’d be the ONLY set I’ve ever purchased. :P I usually buy individual figures.

Yeah, it’d be the most I’ve spend on one, although they are also more intricate that any I’ve picked up, with the swords and such.

I just got my Kujian trading figure box yesterday. And it’s keen! I have to say, with regards to box purchases, I am the sort that would go a bit crazy if I didn’t have all of a set, or got multiples. It feels like such a waste, especially with no one to “trade” with. Plus sharing sucks!

You’re a completionist eh? :) If you want to get rid of any multiples, let me know if you want to sell any. I tend to buy individual figures, although as of late, I’ve been thinking of making the switch to full sets of figures instead.

Yeah, I’ll have to wait and see if HLJ picks up a boxed version. It’s so convenient getting them all at once. I am a sucker for instant gratification. It’s like every box is a little present that I know will have a new figure in it, but there is always that aprehension of “what if they messed up?” Haha, it’s a weird thing, you know?

Yeah, there is a bit of a gamble involved. You could get a bad batch from the factory and that’d be an awful surprise to find out once you’ve opened them— especially at that price.

Yeah, in my Genshiken trading figures I got a few weeks ago, Ohno’s hand was broken off on one of the figures. Luckily it was a clean break, so some super glue get her truckin’ again. :D

I always worry about that stuff, because it’s sort hard to get replacments as it is. Especially in that case, because the boxes were all in mint condition, so it broke off long before delivery.

Luckily most problems are usually fixable. Bad paint apps, bent or broken pieces… But missing pieces are something altogether.

When I got a trading figure with two right leg pieces, I couldn’t find any customer service contact info from Yujin in order to get them to send me the missing left leg. Thankfully the right leg is so similar to the left on this particular figure, some creative sculpting and light surgery can solve the problem.

Yeah, I don’t have much in the way of tools to do that stuff with. I should really invest in a set. It’s always so depressing that companies can’t get them out there right the first time. Well, I guess that is more of an issue for out of country buyers than Japanese people.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed when I saw the hand broken off though. I DON’T NEED THAT SORT OF STRESS!
