The Miyazaki film, Howl’s Moving Castle, has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Animated Feature. The film, based on the British novel of the same name by author Diana Wynne Jones, was nominated alongside such films as Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride. The Oscars are set to air at 8PM EST on March 5th on ABC.
Well, it’s good to see at least one good movie on the nomination list. hahaha, I hope it’ll win but that’s just my optimism. I was going to mention this on SparkPlugged, if so, I’ll give you credit and linkbackage.
Go right ahead. Link backage is awesome, but no need to credit me, I mean the news is all over today. Haha. I was just looking up some stuff about the Oscars because I’m a movie nerd. Woo for news!
Well, considering Miyazaki won for Spirited Away just… whenever it was… he might lose because they don’t want to give him two so close, espcially with everyone’s artsy lover Tim Burton in the running. My money is on him winning, sadly. I still even think Wallace and Gromit was better than the Corpse Bride. I guess we’ll just have to wait until March. :(
Yeah, Corpse Bride winning is what I figure will get it. It’s funny though because I know some Tim Burton fans and they despised Corpse Bride. Wallace and Gromit is good though too.
But I still hope Miyazaki will win despite his past win. If anything, that should give him and his films more leverage to win. I don’t get worked up by The Oscars but I still like seeing good movies get the recognition that they deserve.
Yeah. I still remember being pissed when Ken Watanabe didn’t win for The Last Samurai.
There should have been a recount or something… he put in the best performance, and IN A SECOND LANGUAGE no less. WHY?!
