I just added Google Adsense ads to the site, and I’ll be trying to keep an eye on them to make sure it doesn’t display anything too completely useless, although, even with banning the stupid URLs for Hurricane relief they still show up. Hopefully, that will stop soon. Anyway, I wanted to say a few things about the ads and what I expect of them.
Details after the jump.
Ok, firstly, I don’t expect anyone to click on the ads, ever. They’re just over there so that maybe the CPM ads will bring in a little bit of money just by traffic alone. If you see something you like, and you want to click it, feel free, but please understand I do not expect anyone to even look at the ads if they don’t want to.
Secondly, so long as I own this site, which should be forever, you will never see any other ads anywhere on this site. I’m not going to queer out like Weblogs, Inc. and start putting ads in the middle of the content or up at the top. The tiny ad area you see on the side bar is the only one that will ever be there. If I ever break this solemn promise, please come ot my house and kill me.
Lastly, I’ll try to keep the ads relevant in case anyone wants to use them to try and find stuff, but I recommend that if you want to buy stuff, you just… you know… shoot me an e-mail saying what you want to buy and I will try to direct you the right way. The places I put in my link list in the sidebars are the places that I will swear by for stuff. Hobby Link Japan is great for figures, Amazon.co.jp is good for most everything else. So… yeah. Use the ads if you want, it’ll help me out.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you have any commentes, either mail them or just comment on this post. Any money I get from the ads will go to helping to pay for the site and stuff like that, or it’ll go towards expanding my PVC collection, which in turn helps out the site. :D Thanks for reading the site, I hope I can continue to supply you guys with good news and interesting reads.
“If I ever break this solemn promise, please come ot my house and kill me.”
Should that ever come to pass… I call dibs on your figure collection!!! ^_^
One can’t fault a site owner for wanting to get some return on his investment. I’ve got no problems with ads as long as those ads aren’t pop-ups, ad portals, interstitials, flash ads with sound and especially overlays.
Oh, God how I hate overlays! Yes, by blocking the content and annoying the hell out of me, you’re really gonna want to make me interested in what you’re peddling… 9_9
No! I’m going to be buried with my figures! ALL OF THEM!
Yeah, I want to see if they turn into anything, but I just want everyone to know that there won’t be any of those things you mentionded in your post. Overlays, expanding flash ads, and all that junk… they piss me off as a web browser. And if I ever sell ad space individually to companies, it will be based on those same rules, because I am so sick of trying to read some content and ending up with ads in between every fifth post.
Integrity is the best!!
Let me just say, so far I am completely unimpressed with the google adsense word detection. I saw some anime ads about a million years ago, but didn’t get a chance to click on them.
Also, just a note. I may word with blogads or some other company later on to sell some adspace to replace the Google ads and give me some content control. I haven’t checked them out too in-depth yet, but if I can content control the ads to make them relevant, I will see about switching for great justice.
